Should You Wear High or Flat Bridal Shoes?

A large percentage say no to flat bridal shoes. But should you follow the bandwagon that has no basis at all?

Out of the 30 ladies that I asked, married or single, 25 of them answered 'high heeled bridal shoes' to my question: "In your wedding day, what kind of shoes do you prefer to wear, high heeled, or flat?"

The 5 who say yes to flat bridal shoes has an accompanying if clause in their statement. They said they will only wear flat bridal shoes if, and only if, the wedding venue necessitates it. The ladies continued, they can even go barefoot if it is a beach wedding. But if it is a garden or a hotel wedding, there is no way that they will strut on the ballroom more so walk down the aisle with flat wedding shoes.

But why is it that many brides hate to wear flat wedding shoes? Is it because Jessica Parker looked so tall and lithe with her 6-inch stilettos? Well, that is Jessica Parker, who happens to be a ballerina. She can walk a mile tiptoed.

Remember, the wedding day is the most stressful (but fulfilling) day in a woman's life. You can't afford to get tripped or stumble on your own wedding gown because of that wretched high heeled bridal shoes that shake up whenever you trod the floor with a single step.

So, trimmed with firm hold wedding shoes seem to be the most appropriate footwear for a bride who needs to look beautiful and sexy even if she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs upon seeing a green wedding cake at the table's centerpiece, when her motif, actually, was pink.

Some had been and brides to be claim that the taller counterpart of the flat bridal shoes make the bride looks sexier and her gait more ladylike. But these beliefs, of course, did not originated from the brides themselves; they all came from fashion networks and fashion magazine's so called gurus who have created the fashion statement that high heeled (bridal or not) shoes are sexy, while flat bridal shoes, aren't.

Should you really say no to flat bridal shoes?

Wedding experts say that brides should choose comfort over aesthetics since the bride's day will be spent standing, walking around, greeting friends and relative, dancing and posing for the camera. But this does not mean that bridal shoes should look less elegant and less classy.

To have the pretty sides of both high and flat bridal shoes, wedding experts say that you, bride to be, should buy one of each.

Yes, a bride should have a pair of high heeled and flat bridal shoes.

High heeled bridal shoes should be worn during the wedding ceremony (at the church, usually). Wedding ceremonies usually takes around an hour or two. A bride's feet won't feel much tired standing on those shaky stilettos for such a short period of time.

It is also during the wedding ceremony that the bride should do the 'sexy gait,' and stilettos could help her strut her way down the aisle with such grace and elegance.

Flat bridal shoes, on the other hand, should be worn during the wedding reception. The bride can entertain her guests whether she may be sitting, standing or hopping her legs with the Scottish highland dance.
